Creating From Your Passion Is Your Life's Purpose
The difference between creating from your ego, and creating from your heart --- two paths, one calling.
Chapter 13 from “This Is How You Heal” by Brianna Wiest:
“This Is How You Find The Confidence To Pursue What You Really Love”
Take a moment and think about everything we have ever worked super hard for in our lives. Now ask yourself, if you did it in order to have a job, in order to make more money, in order to get accepted into an organization, or institution, in order to look different, etc. If you answered yes to most of these, you’ve mostly been creating from ego in your life, which is a huge deviation from working towards your life’s purpose (AKA your true calling). Basically, you’ve been playing yourself this whole time.
In this chapter, Brianna explains how we don’t give ourselves credit where it’s deserved, and our addiction to constantly be comparing ourselves to others leads us to a place where we are living for others, but not for ourselves. And the more we do this, the more detached we become to our soul’s center, and our purpose. We give into the ego too much, and feed it by doing what we have been told is good for us, versus what we really want. But, we won’t know what we even truly want, if we don’t attach back to ourselves, to our core, and grab onto our hearts as the official guide of our lives.
The most impactful quote of this chapter to me was:
“All you need is the willingness to create something that is authentic and true and moving to you, something that lifts you out of your human experience and into another, something that makes sense of the past, clears your perception of the future, makes you experience the same emotions you did when you first fell in love or learned to let go or felt completely at awe or inspired or at peace.”
When I read this section in the book, I literally wrote the word “wow” next to it, and highlighted it. It was an explosion of joy, connection, happiness, and like somehow I had just been told what I had wanted and needed to hear all my life. How incredible that with just a few words someone could make what seemed like floating puzzle pieces, instantly fit and lock perfectly into place.
While the entire chapter was amazing, this one quote shifted so much in me. As simple as it was, it had the power to make me realize that the world operates too much on ego driving, as opposed to driving with your heart. If we all made choices and created with our heart, we would live life with such abundance. We’d do only things that authentically light us up, not dim it.
We wonder why so many of us burn out, experience stress, fatigue, and depression. But, the solution is so darn simple, and in this chapter Brianna lays it out perfectly. We must recalibrate our efforts and doings from our heart space, and passion, and without a doubt we’ll arrive at our truths. Doing anything opposite of that, and we’ll never truly LIVE. Creating to meet the world’s expectations is quite honestly being a puppet to society.
What a refreshing and eye opening chapter! Tell me what you thought about it below! Let’s discuss! So much to say!
