Life Talk: Careful What You Reflect On This Holiday Season
How to break out of the Holiday Blues programming which automatically makes you reflect on lack instead of gains in your life...
It is during the Holiday season that most people feel the weight of what they DID NOT accomplish in the year, who they NO LONGER have in their lives, who they WISHED would be in their lives, and the LACK of achievements according to their age’s socialized expectations. It’s no wonder that depression runs rampant during the Holiday season —— the commonality in these emotions, thoughts, and feelings that surface are purely negative and self deprecating.
What Are You Creating?
We are the creators of our own reality. We live however we think. No one else controls our thoughts accept ourselves. Therefore, the allocation of how you invest your thoughts is the driving force behind your reality and outcomes. Those thoughts are the energy you are putting out into the world, and your outcomes are the mirror of that energy. Choose your perspectives carefully. If they don’t build you up, they shouldn't have a place in your mind. What is FOR YOU should always energize you with motivation, joy, and momentum.
You’re Not Reflecting Enough
We’ve also been socialized to associate the Holiday season as a time to disconnect, which leads us into a period of heavy reflection. And since the majority of people around the world don’t take time to meditate and reflect regularly throughout the year, they bottle it all up and the reflection rushes all at once come the Holiday season. Think about that —— all the feelings, experiences, unresolved situations you had throughout the year, balled up and reflected on all at once during the Holidays. It’s too much to process all at once, which is why so many people go into what has been coined, “the Holiday Blues”.
You’re Disrespecting Your Mind and Soul
We humans are not machines. We need to slow down and reflect regularly every week, not be on GO MODE all year, and wait until the world unplugs at the end of the year to reflect. In order to achieve the proper calibration our mind needs, we need to give ourselves time weekly to sort out events, moments, feelings, decisions, etc. That time is a gift where we can digest mentally and soulfully in order to evolve and shed what no longer serves us. Consistently slowing down and reflecting during the year is a right we have as soul beings. Why would you take that right away from yourself all year, and only utilize it once in December?
Give yourself the grace and respect you deserve by carefully selecting your thoughts. Decipher which ones are keepers by how they make you feel. Feeling good, KEEP. Feeling shitty, TOSS OUT IMMEDIATELY. Make time every week to be still with yourself, to reflect, to filter out your mind and heart so that you evolve. Evolving our souls is what we are all here to do. Don’t operate how the world has told you to do so, operate through your soul’s core always. Drive with that. Cater to it regularly. The rest will follow.
Final Thoughts
If you are experiencing sadness this Holiday season, I invite you to readjust your thoughts, and make it a priority to slow down and recalibrate regularly throughout the year. Do not wait until the end of the year to do so. As a result, you’ll arrive as a happier, more abundant YOU next Holiday season.
You’re way above those tears you may have shed so far this holiday season. Focus on your gains this year, and leave no room in your mind for thoughts of lack.
Sending my sincere love to you all this Christmas. - Charlene
